Expedition Report

Mission details:

• Progress M-44 undocked from Zvezda's aft port on Apr 16, 2001 at 08:48 UTC and was deorbited at 13:23 UTC over the Pacific.
• Soyuz TM-31 undocked from the Zarya nadir port Apr 18 at 12:40 UTC and redocked with the Zvezda aft port at 13:01 UTC, leaving clearance for the Raffaello MPLM module to dock at the Unity nadir during STS-100.
• Soyuz TM-32 docked with the -Z port on Zarya at 0758 UTC on Apr 30. The 2S crew of Musabaev, Baturin and tourist Dennis Tito transferred their re-entry couches to Soyuz TM-31, at which point TM-32 became the Station′s rescue vehicle.
• The visiting crew remained on Alpha for almost six days; they closed the hatches on Soyuz TM-31 late on May 5, leaving Usachyov, Helms and Voss aboard the Station, and undocked from Zvezda's -Y port at 0221 UTC on May 6.
• The empty port on Zvezda will be filled by a Progress cargo freighter at the end of May.
  Current mass of the Station is around 113900 kg including the docked Soyuz TM-32.
• Progress M1-6 docked with Zvezda&prime,s aft (-Y) port at 0024 UTC on May 23, 2001.
• On Jun 8, 2001 Station astronauts Yuriy Usachyov and James Voss carried out depressurized work in the Zvezda transfer section, using Orlan-M spacesuits, while Susan Helms remained in the pressurized Zarya module (the Soyuz transfer ship is docked to Zarya). The Zvezda transfer airlock was depressurized at 1404 UTC and the astronauts went to battery power at 1419 UTC. Then the 1-meter diameter flat hatch cover was removed from the nadir docking port, opening the transfer compartment to vacuum at 1420 UTC. The Zvezda docking cone, removed from the axial port after docking with Zarya last year, was then installed in the open hatch at around 1432 UTC and sealed in place at 1440 UTC, closing off the compartment again. The compartment was repressurized starting at 1458 UTC. Operation duration was 54 min (depress/repress), 20 min (hatch open/close, Russian rule), 0 min (egress/ingress - no actual external spacewalk was performed) or 39 min (usual NASA rule). Although NASA usually counts EVAs from `suits to battery power′ until repress, this time they are using the Russian rule of hatch open to hatch close, cheating Jim Voss out of 19 min of EVA scorecard that he would normally be credited with.
